0001130: Denora crashes when started with sql or sql turned on

Description

Today i noticed denora wasn't sitting in our main channel.
I tried logging in to fix it, and stats were offline.
upon logging into our stats account and executing ./stats -sql i was given:
•stack smashing detected ***: ./stats terminated
attached is the full backtrace
we are running ubuntu 9.04
connecting to mysql.

This was issue 574 in our old BT, reported by aetaric
